Our Lake Mary Acupuncture practice has been treating patients who suffer with neuropathy with great results.
According to the Mayo Clinic, peripheral neuropathy, is a result of damage to the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves), which often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet. It can also affect other areas of your body.
Peripheral neuropathy can result from traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic problems, inherited causes and exposure to toxins. One of the most common causes is diabetes.
People with peripheral neuropathy generally describe the pain as stabbing, burning or tingling. In many cases, symptoms improve, especially if caused by a treatable condition. Some medications can help neuropathy but come with nasty side effects.
An alternative approach to treating peripheral neuropathy may include a combination of the use of Chinese herbs and vitamins to help support nerve function, Acupuncture to help stimulate normal nerve communication, cold laser therapy to help regenerate damaged nerve function. In addition, dietary changes are a must to help the body return to homeostasis. We have found that many diabetics with peripheral neuropathy do not manage their blood glucose levels and some consume alcoholic beverages.
We also test for food sensitivities to determine what foods may be causing excess inflammation in the body thus aggravating neuropathy symptoms. In addition, homeopathic anti-inflammatory trigger point injections are used along with specialized electrical muscle stimulation.
There is hope for reducing the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy.

- Prior to scheduling ANY appointments, all calls will be screened for established risk factors of COVID-19.
- We are asking that you do not bring guests or family members with you to our office. Please have them wait in the car.
- All employees before their shift will have their temperature checked and recorded daily. Our staff will only be present if they and their households are healthy and symptom-free.
- Social distancing is being practiced in our waiting room to ensure your safety.
- We are asking that you please wear a face mask or a cloth face-covering in our office as a precaution and protection of your health. Any patient refusing to comply with the face-covering request will be rescheduled to another date and time.
- We continue to sterilize, sanitize, and disinfect all touchpoints in our office throughout the day and all equipment, patient areas, after every use and between all patients.
- Hand sanitizer stations are available at multiple locations throughout the office.
- We recommend you to use our virtual check-in/out, if possible.
We are continuing to monitor the CDC for updates, and, as things evolve, we will adjust our protocols.

Modified office hours: Monday and Wednesday (10 AM – 6 PM) Tuesday (3 PM – 7 PM by appointment only.) Friday (10 AM – 1 PM.) We are closed for Lunch daily: 1 PM – 2:45PM.
We are Closed on national holidays: Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Christmas Day, Memorial Day, New Years Day.
All new patients initial evaluation and treatment are only conducted on Wednesdays mornings, by appointment only.
All appointments will be made on the hour (10 AM, 11 AM, etc.). The only exception is for patients from the same household who can have treatments 30 minutes apart. Please indicate this preference when scheduling your appointments.
Face masks must be worn in the office hallways, when scheduling with the front desk staff, and for the talking part of the Acupuncture session. If you would prefer you can wear your mask for the entire duration. If you chose to do this, please “take a picture of your tongue” before coming in for your session and have it ready to upload to Dr. Scott’s iPhone or bring it with you.
When you arrive for your session, please call or send a text from your car. You will then receive a confirmation text as to which room number your session will be held in and you may come in. At this time you may also request water or tea which will be waiting for you in your room. Please sign the COVID-19 Pre-Screening form at the front desk.
All staff will wear masks at all times.
No guests may accompany you unless discussed prior to your arrival
There will no longer be any waiting in the front waiting room.
The rooms will now have a more simplified appearance. All rooms will be completely disinfected between patients.
When you enter the room please place all of your belongings (shoes, bags, clothing, etc.) into the plastic tub, or hung up on the door hook.
At the end of the session, you will be required to put on your mask. You will sign out and then be able to schedule your next appointment at the front desk. If you would prefer, you can reschedule via text. You are also asked not to socialize or hang around in the hallways or waiting room after your appointment.
If you have any of the following signs and symptoms, please stay home. You can always call to discuss your symptoms and get home remedies.

- Extreme fatigue
